Briane Cornish
2021–2024 Fellow: finEQUITYBriane heads up operations at finEQUITY. finEQUITY addresses the most common financial challenges threatening the ability for those returning from prison to remain and thrive in their community. We provide access to no-fee, no-interest credit building opportunities that allow community members recently released to establish a credit score within 6 months with all three credit bureaus. We couple this service with financial literacy and no-interest loans to cover important reentry needs.
Our services are transformational, not only because participants obtain a visible credit score and a long-term source of positive credit history, but also because they gain financial capabilities to share with their loved ones.
Briane has over 10 years of experience in criminal justice reform and reentry policy. Briane received her Juris Doctorate degree from Stanford University. She previously supervised the development of CleanSlateDC.org, DCRefers.org and the first launch of Law4BlackLivesDC.org.
