Bob Carswell

Carswell serves as the CEO for Material Return, a one-stop shop for creating a sustainable, socially responsible economy, focusing on custom circularity for textile brands and manufacturers using co-op models and state-of-the-art technology. Bob is focused on leading development on custom circular products with the Material Return team in order to close the loop on textile waste in the US, all while putting workers at the forefront of this new circular economy. Born and raised in Morganton, NC, he is driven to see his home community thrive for generations to come.

Previously, Bob worked for a local furniture manufacturer for 14 years as a CAD pattern maker and a CNC cutter operator. Bob has an associate’s degree in electrical engineering and an associate’s degree in computer engineering from Western Piedmont Community College. He also enjoys teaching computer and electrical engineering classes at WPCC as an adjunct instructor.
